Your choice of luggage matters more on this trip than most! Everything you bring will need to fit in your (usually) tiny cabin, with even tinier closets and storage spaces.
A basic, soft sided, collapsible duffel works really well, even though it might be more annoying to wrestle through the airport. Big hard sided roller bags that don’t collapse won’t fit in the small storage spaces of most charter boats.
Even a hard-sided carry one would be hard, though sometimes these can fit in under bed storage, or at worst, maybe the anchor locker.
If you’re looking to buy something new, consider a water proof or water resistant bag, especially if you plan to travel to your boat by ferry or water taxi. A quick tropical downpour while you’re standing on a dock waiting for your pickup can soak everything you brought with you really fast!
Above all, when you’re packing, think about bringing less. You really don’t need a lot, and the less junk you have to haul around and store in small spaces, the easier you make this on yourself!
